Six game stylesNounogram, Picrossword, Granonoum, and more
Every Nounogram puzzle comes down to two choices: what the edge numbers count, and how you get the words. Six combinations have names of their own. You play the first three in the daily puzzles. With the one-time unlock in the app you play the other three too, and you can mix your own.
Nounogram
The original. The edge numbers count the runs of solid squares, exactly as in a nonogram, and you get a list of the words that fill the letter squares between them. Mark what the numbers prove, place what the crossings prove, and keep handing the puzzle between the two until it's done.

Picrossword
No word list. The numbers still count the solid squares, and beside them you see each row's and column's letters in alphabetical order. You know which letters a line uses, not where they go, so you sort them out from the crossings and the run lengths.

Granonoum
Nounogram logic with the word list scrambled. Each word's letters are shuffled, so you often know which word goes in a line from its length and crossings before you know what the word spells. In the app you can hold a scrambled word and arrange its letters in a pane.

Crossword
The edge numbers count the letter squares instead of the solids, so they tell you where the words sit. You place every word from the list where its length and its crossings allow. The closest of the six to a classic crossword, without the cryptic clues.

Word Search
The numbers count the letter squares, and there is no list. You see each row's and column's letters along the edge, in alphabetical order, and you work out the words from those letters and the places they cross.

Anagrams
The word list is right there, but every word in it is scrambled, and the numbers count the letter squares. You can unscramble each word and then place it, or place it first and let the crossings unscramble it for you.

Then mix your own
The six names are presets. With the unlock, you make every choice behind them when you generate a puzzle: what the edge numbers count, whether you get the words as a list, a scrambled list, or letters along the edge, whether some clues hide behind a question mark, and whether the edge letters show each letter once or every time it appears.
